About Lauren

Lauren (she/her) has been making music since childhood, and today she shares that same joy with her students through singing, piano, and ukulele. With a background in musical theatre and choir, she brings a playful, adventurous energy to lessons while also grounding students in ear training and musical fundamentals. Beyond teaching, Lauren performs, writes, and collaborates with fellow musicians, and has even produced and acted in her own plays, including shows at the Fringe Festival—experiences that enrich her creative approach to teaching.

How she teaches

Lauren’s lessons blend structure with creativity. She helps students learn songs they love while developing healthy technique, rhythm, and confidence. Lessons are flexible and student-led, creating space for curiosity and fun alongside steady progress. Whether it’s preparing for performance, learning casually, or starting fresh, she supports each student’s goals.

Learning styles she supports

Visual learners benefit from clear sheet music, chord charts, and highlighted notes. Auditory learners practice through listening, singing back, and call-and-response. Kinesthetic learners engage through rhythm games, movement, and interactive exercises that connect sound to body awareness. Lauren also welcomes beginner piano and ukulele students, introducing simple chords, melodies, and playful practice strategies that make starting an instrument approachable and fun.

Background

Lauren earned her Bachelor of Music from the University of Victoria. With extensive experience in choir, theatre, and independent productions, she brings a diverse artistic background into her teaching. She continues to perform and create in the local arts scene, which inspires and informs her work with students.
