Classical, Pop, Rock, Jazz,
Joshua has been a music geek his entire life. He played trumpet in school band, he studied piano until graduating high school and achieving his grade 8 level in the conservatory of music for piano. The instrument that moved him to take up music professionally was the electric guitar. Rock bands like AC/DC and Led Zeppelin inspired him to buy a six string and dedicate himself to learning classic rock & roll riffs, and eventually leading him towards his purpose in life. After finishing his bachelor of music performance degree at UVic, he found various positions around Victoria as a guitar teacher. Besides his weekly students with lessons in their homes, he led group classes at recreation centres such as Gordon Head, Juan de Fuca, and Common Wealth. The Uvic music program offered Joshua experience in a wide variety of musical styles, but as it was centred around classical guitar, it instilled a great value in technique, daily practice, and an ambition for self improvement. It opened his eyes to the history of music in general. He still gets the Led out sometimes, but he understands the importance of knowing the fundamentals in music, and the powerful influence of exploring every genre under the sun.
